Calculating your BMI
The easiest way to determine if you’re a candidate is to figure out your Body Mass Index (BMI). It is a simple math calculation that
determines your weight-to-height ratio. Use our calculator or do it yourself:
BMI = Your weight (in pounds) x 704.5 / your height (in inches)²
| BODY MASS INDEX KEY |
| Index | Candidate? | Level of Health Risk |

Here’s what you can expect before, during and after the
LAP-BAND® procedure.
Before the LAP-BAND® Procedure
- A free Educational Seminar: Money should never stand in the way of your health and happiness. That's why True Results doesn't charge you a cent to attend our True Results LAP-BAND® educational Seminar. Come meet an experienced LAP-BAND® doctor, a True Results patient, and the road to a new you.
- A Diagnostic Examination: One of our highly-trained staff members will review your medical records and perform various pre-operative medical tests to ensure the procedure is safe for you.
- Insurance/financing verification: We work with you to submit medical information to your insurance carrier and doctor for review. If your insurance company does not cover the LAP-BAND® procedure, or if you have chosen to pursue financing options, you can apply through one of our financing institutions at this time.
- A weight-loss program: Insurance companies often require the completion of a 3-12 month weight-loss program before approving bariatric (weight-loss) procedures. Our aftercare program satisfies insurance carrier requirements and provides you with a proven, medically sound program that promotes significant, lasting weight loss for life.
The LAP-BAND® Procedure
- Using a laparoscope (a small camera), the doctor inserts an adjustable, silicone gastric band around the top of the stomach, reducing the volume of food the stomach will hold. Typically, the surgery takes about 30-45 minutes and you can return home within 4-5 hours of having the FDA-approved LAP-Band® procedure. Most people return to work within a week and resume exercising within a month to six weeks.
- Recovery includes a dietary plan (including vitamin supplements) that first consists of liquids, followed by soft foods and later on, solids. You are also given a low impact exercise program, which is key to a successful outcome.
Life after LAP-BAND®
A normal part of post-surgery follow-up is adjusting the band to the
right level of restriction to meet your individual needs. Adjustments
are performed without surgery using a thin needle to inject or withdraw
saline from your band via the access port. This widens or narrows the
band opening to control the rate of your weight loss. Adjustments only
take 10-15 minutes, with your first one typically received 4-6 weeks
after surgery. The total number of adjustments you receive depends on
your individual weight-loss goals, rate and results.
Feel Comfortable with True Results
After LAP-BAND® , people feel more comfortable—in their lives,
in airplanes, in clothes, in social situations. Don’t just take
our word for it.
